OUR FOUNDER’S JOURNEY AND TRANSFORMATION

This is how it all started.

In 1997, Mary Elizabeth Cheng, the Founder, was still a computer teacher in primary school. It was her first job related to Information Technology (IT) but also the job that ignited her passion for IT – an industry dominated by men.

As her experience with IT grew, she joined a structured cabling company in 1998. Structured cabling was popular then. Mary’s desire to learn motivated her to delve deeper into the industry. As a field installer then, her first project was a renowned hotel in Malaysia with 2,000 rooms.

After nearly 10 years in structured cabling, Mary  decided to venture out and finally set up her own company in 2008. From a structure cabling installer, to offering full fledged structure cabling infrastructure and system. In 2016, the company transitioned to become an ICT Design –
Build Provider with services that include ICT design, Consulting, Designing, Engineering, Project Management, Managed Service, and Maintenance Support.

Mary continued to elevate her knowledge of the industry. She went to the United States to further her studies in infrastructure design. In 2019, Mary became the first female Registered Communications Distribution Designer ® (RCDD) in Malaysia. She became a BICSI certified trainer in February 2021.

Today, structured cabling is known as ICT, a component that’s significant from the smallest to the largest projects. Even though ICT is an abbreviation for “Information & Communications Technology”, there is no single universal definition to define ICT because of what it encompasses – any type of communication device, networking components, applications, and systems that enable us to interact with the digital world whilst providing real-world solutions with the help of modern computing.

In an ever changing world, Mary has the foresight of ICT becoming an essential service and has been advocating change in the industry for the past 15 years.

“As we all know, new buildings require a Building Consultant, an Architect Consultant, and an M&E Consultant. The integration of information technology is no longer a want, but a critical need in order to meet new building requirements.”

– Mary Elizabeth Cheng
